Vila Velha Theater has been strengthening ties with generations of spectators for 55 years. As one of the most active centers for the formation, creation and dissemination of the performing arts in Brazil, Vila Velha produces and supports theater, dance, music and visual arts projects. Built and maintained by “Teatro dos Novos” Co.,Vila has been, since its inauguration, home to several artistic and collective groups and now it seeks going beyond geographical limits by exchanging with productions from all over the world.

Over the years, Vila has exchanged knowledge and experiences with artists from around the world in different ways: hosting international shows and activities at the Viva Dança International Festival, which has dancers and companies from different continents, with the participation of foreign collaborators in their training programs such as Martin Domecq, Douglas Irvine and Jean Jacques Lemêtre, in addition to KCENA, a young lusophone theater project that carries out artistic exchanges between Brazil, Cape Verde and Portugal. Vila also connects to the world through the production of texts by playwrights such as Matéi Visniec and William Shakespeare.

Now, with the Covid-19 pandemic, we were forced to close our doors.

This means that we have lost resources from the box office, the sales of food and drinks at our coffee shop, “Cabaré dos Novos”, and the monthly fees for workshops and training courses. But most of all, we have lost our physical place of meeting and contact, which is why we are in the process of building a new place, recreating Vila and the art in a cyberspace.

To keep it all working, we have expanded our sustainability creating a new way of supporting art that besides to help maintaining our activities, is mainly a way to approach us even more despite geographic distances. Vila wants to be closely connected to people who are interested in, identify with and believe in our way of making art. We invite you from all over the world who cheers that Vila Velha Theater keeps open, to join us in this campaign and get to know about our continuous collective investment project: AMIGOS DO VILA.

1- If you already have a PayPal account and are logged in, just enter the amount you want to donate, select the option "Make this a monthly donation" and click "Donate with Paypal". Done, you became Amigo do Vila!

2- If you do not have a PayPal account, enter the amount you wish to donate, select the option "Make this a monthly donation" and click "Donate with a debit or credit card".

3- Then select your country, card details, billing address and contact information.

4- Finally, create a password, enter your date of birth and ID.

5- Select the option “I have read and agree to the...” and click on “Donate R$ X monthly”.
